Dozens of countries not in UK quarantine

Dozens of countries will be exempt from a travel quarantine from Monday, UK government sources have indicated.

Currently, most people arriving into the UK from anywhere apart from the Republic of Ireland have to self-isolate for two weeks.

Ministers had previously indicated they were working to establish a relatively small number of travel corridors.

Travel and tourism companies have been calling for urgent clarity over the corridors amid rising bookings.

Last weekend, the government said it would relax its advice on travel abroad and would rate countries as either green, amber or red, depending on the prevalence of the virus.

Myrtle Beach mayor nixes shutdown as tourist COVID cases increase

As more communities say they have coronavirus cases tied to Grand Strand trips, Myrtle Beach’s mayor called the reports “disheartening” and rejected calls for closing tourist activities.

With coronavirus travel restrictions still in place in many countries, British consumers are struggling to work out whether they can have a holiday this summer.

Will the EU bar Americans? Bloc debates who should be allowed when travel resumes

Americans may be among those blocked from visiting European Union countries once they reopen their borders to visitors outside of the continent starting July 1. . 

Kasper Zeuthen, a senior media adviser for the EU’s delegation to the US, said the European Commission will recommend progressively lifting travel restrictions based on objective criteria that measure the scope of the pandemic in each country.
