Starz has announced a new travel docu-series called Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham, starring Outlander series stars Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish. Heugan first had the idea for the series in the format of a podcast and was originally titled Clan Lands.
“I wanted to do a podcast in my spare time, and I thought I’d shoot some visuals for it,” Heughan told OprahMag.com in 2019. “The more I was getting into producing it, it’s the first thing I’d produced, and I really enjoyed it. So I decided to make it into a TV show! We’ve finished shooting and dare I say, I think it looks really fun.”
The half-hour, eight-episode unscripted series “is a celebration of Scottish history and culture as Heughan and McTavish take viewers along on their adventures, discovering the rich, complex heritage of their native country, meeting various local artisans and experts, and experiencing genuine moments of awe and fascination as the duo share their travels with the audience rather than simply guiding them,” according to a press release from Starz.

If you’re an Outlander fan or you’ve just been on an extensive tour of Scottish battlegrounds for fun (raises hand), then you’ll be interested to know that the show “takes viewers from the heart of Scotland at Glencoe, the site of a great massacre and major clan feud to Inverness and the Culloden battlefield.”
For six years, Heughan starred as Jamie Fraser, the Scottish soldier who meets and falls in love with Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a woman from post-World War II America who goes back in time to 18th-century Scotland. McTavish plays Dougal MacKenzie, Fraser’s stern uncle.
“The genuine curiosity and passion that Sam and Graham have for the landscapes they visit and the stories they uncover while traveling through the heart of Scotland makes Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham a truly enjoyable journey of discovery for the audience,” Christina Davis, President, Original Programming of Starz said in a statement from the network. “The series gives context and texture to Highland life and history, woven together, much like the tartan for which Scotland is so famous, and we look forward to taking this road trip with these two great friends.”
“I’m not sure you’re ready for this?!@meninkiltsstarz 🏴Coming soon to @starz!! @grahammctavish,” Heughan wrote in an Instagram post to promote the show.

It looks like it’s time for Jamie to trade in his horses for something that can take some serious off-roading. There is no premiere date set for this series yet.
