As of today, five new countries have been added to the UK’s quarantine-free list.

Britons returning from Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania and St Vincent and the Grenadines can do so without the need to self-isolate for 14 days.

The update to the list, which was announced on Friday but comes into force today, comes just days after the Government controversially added mainland Spain to the UK’s quarantine list. Yesterday, the Balearics and Canary Islands were added to that

Dozens of countries not in UK quarantine

Dozens of countries will be exempt from a travel quarantine from Monday, UK government sources have indicated.

Currently, most people arriving into the UK from anywhere apart from the Republic of Ireland have to self-isolate for two weeks.

Ministers had previously indicated they were working to establish a relatively small number of travel corridors.

Travel and tourism companies have been calling for urgent clarity over the corridors amid rising bookings.

Last weekend, the government said it would relax its advice on travel abroad and would rate countries as either green, amber or red, depending on the prevalence of the virus.

UK will ditch travel quarantine for 75 countries, Daily Telegraph says

LONDON (Reuters) – The British government will effectively ditch its air bridge plans and simply end the coronavirus quarantine rules for those arriving from 75 countries so that people can go on holiday, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The newspaper said the UK would shortly lift a ban on non-essential travel to nearly all EU destinations, the British territories including Bermuda and Gibraltar, and Turkey, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.

A spokesman for the transport ministry declined immediate comment.

Ireland to ease travel restrictions with some countries from July 9

DUBLIN (Reuters) – Ireland plans to lift from July 9 a 14-day quarantine for people arriving from countries that have also suppressed the coronavirus, acting prime minister Leo Varadkar said on Thursday.

Ireland will produce a “green list” of countries where the 14-day quarantine will not apply by the July 9 resumption date, Varadkar told a news conference, approving Ireland’s move to the third of the four-phase plan for reopening its economy.
